inspire

I really love this print. It's by Kristopher Hedley.

I borrowed an art book from work. It's the most inspiring art book I've seen yet. It's a book of 200 projects, or ways of looking at art and techniques that will improve artistic skill and help build a body of work. I am very excited about it.

Tomorrow morning I will roam the downtown streets of Halifax a free bird; tomorrow afternoon I will create beautiful things.

but you look so good when you're laughing you know"
- Red Heart : Hey Rosetta!

"the river's up, the reeds are caught
halfway across what never was
the water rose and swept in slow
when the reeds awoke they were half below"

Memories of Kites.

On my last "family road trip," the year after I graduated from high school we drove from Calgary to the border between California and Oregon and camped along the way. I was after the Salinas Valley, as per The Grapes of Wrath. We didn't quite make it, but I bought a kite in a town where one of my teenage online saviors grew up and flew it on the beach in the west coast wind.

I brought my kite to Halifax, I can't wait to go flying.

jellyfish

Today, for the first time in my life, I saw jellyfish in the Halifax harbour. They were pink and silky looking. Beautiful. There were three larger ones and hundreds of mini ones about the size of a loonie. Amazing.
